Fat White Family – Whitest Boy On The Beach (2015)
A song ostensibly, and initially, about being a somewhat weedy Englishman on a Mediterranean beach (a situation we’ve found ourselves in), but well of aware of sounding nationalistic and uncomfortable. By the time Lias Saoudi is screaming “de schteiner” (which doesn’t actually mean anything), the jig is up, whilst the video flirts with radically ambiguous imagery the whole way through. (Laibach are cited as an influence who describe their own act as exaggerated to the point of “parody” and “horribly open to misinterpretation”.)
It’s essentially a two fingers up to critics already calling them fascist, with a Donna Summer disco beat.
